This year's Jazz & Food Festival was cancelled because of construction on the property adjacent to St. Elizabeth Church. Fr. Jim presided at all Masses at St. Michael on August 23-24, promoting the Raffle Ticket Sale which is the major fund raiser to support the parish's financial needs. Michaelonians responded generously with over $15,000 in ticket sales and donations.
Bible 101 began on August 5 and was presented weekly on Zoom. The four sessions are a prerequisite to the Adult Scripture classes which are held during the year, as well as to learn how to study scripture on your own.
Thirty-one students attended St. Elizabeth Tusome Summer School on July 14-25. There were 51 volunteers, including 40 teens from area schools, providing one-on-one mentoring in English, Reading, and Math. One of the teens organized and funded an activity day at SCOR, with the goal of reaching out to refugee children through soccer. Each student received a tee shirt and soccer ball.
On August 18, the school year began with 20 St. Elizabeth students attending All Saints Catholic School and 4 students attending Christo Rey High School.
